VALUE ENGINEERING
Value engineering refers to a systematic evaluation of building components and the process of providing alternative materials, equipment, means and methods at a different cost point to gain the same or a similar end result. Our most experienced, senior, in-house estimators, architects and engineers collaborate creatively to brainstorm and problem solve, providing concise, comprehensive, understandable options for our clients and the design teams to respond to.
A simple example of value engineering includes substituting an engineer’s equipment specification with a performance specification that allows for competitive bidding by a series of different equipment manufacturers. Coupled with maintenance, warrantee, availability and technical information the decision to order one unit over another might be quite different.
By providing clients with a clear understanding of the choices available combined with the pricing, schedule or long term maintenance impact of the proposed alternatives, our clients are better equipped for value-based decision making. |
